Carmen Strand

Instructional Designer

Carmen Strand is an instructional designer for the bachelor’s degree in Business for Penn State World Campus. She has a bachelor’s degree in Newspaper Operations Management from Rochester Institute of Technology and a master of education degree in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State University. Her professional interests include adult education, mobile learning, and companion mobile technologies.

Prior to joining the World Campus team in 2014, Carmen was a program specialist for the Ph.D. program at Smeal College of Business. She also spent nine years in the newspaper business with Knight Ridder and McClatchy in State College, PA, and Miami, FL. She also interned with the QE2 in Southampton, England, and Dow Jones in Chicopee, MA.

Raised in Saint Paul, MN, Carmen now lives in Boalsburg and enjoys spending time with her husband, cat, and three stepdaughters. Her interests include SCUBA diving, travel, culinary arts, biking, and spending time with her family and friends.
